If you feel an elections violation has occurred and wish to file a complaint, stop by the Student Activities Office in HUB 207. You will be asked to provide information regarding the alleged violation and be explained the process by which your complaint will be heard by the ASUW Judicial Committee.
Each candidate is responsible for checking the bulletin board outside the SAO to see if any complaints have been filed against them.
Below is the complaint policy as stated in the Elections Policies & Procedures.
Title X - Election Complaints [of the ASUW Election Policies and Procedures]
1. Complaints may be filed against any of the following:
- a. Candidates named on the ballot or write-in candidates.
- b. Any person or persons campaigning on behalf of or against a candidate or ballot measure.
- c. The Elections Administration Committee.
- d. Any person or group whose activity is alleged to be in violation of election rules or policies or which appears to violate an individual's rights during the process of campaigning.
2. Complaints are to be filed in person and in writing with the appropriate staff person in the Student Activities Office. Only one candidate or ballot measure may be listed per complaint form.
- a. Upon receipt of a complaint, the recipient shall record the date and time of the receipt of complaint form.
- b. Complaints are to be made on the forms provided by the Student Activities Office and shall include:
- i. Date, time and place of alleged violation.
- ii. Name or other identifying characteristics of person involved in the alleged violation.
- iii. Complete description of alleged violation, including where applicable:
- a. Name, address, phone number(s), and email addresses of witnesses.
- b. Citation of rule, policy, or right allegedly violated.
- iv. All complaints shall be signed by the complainant and any witnesses to the alleged violation.
- v. Complaints in which the writing is illegible may be discarded at the discretion of the Judicial Committee.
- vi. It is strongly recommended that for sign violations complainants submit a copy of the flyer or photograph showing the violation.
3. Complaints must be received no later than two business days after elections. No late complaints shall be accepted.
4. Complaints by individuals other than EAC or Judicial Committee members must be received no later than 2 hours prior to the scheduled election announcement.
5. All dates herein shall be included in the Elections Calendar.
